Riding in the mountains

Tues 20th Feb 18

290 kms today, our penultimate day of riding. After our early start the roads were straight to begin with, then we climbed up into mountains and through a national park. Great flowing twisty road, good surface, spectacular scenery, so we picked up the pace. Later that afternoon we met some rain on the last section to the hotel. Very slippery roads, time to take it easy.

We arrived at the hotel, a lovely resort built into a hillside. Not long after we arrived so did a convoy of classic cars on a tour from Singapore to Saigon in Vietnam. Accompanying the group to record the adventure was Noel Edmunds of all people! I missed him but Pete asked him for a pic, very friendly apparently.

Word soon got round that their trip was costing £100k+ including shipping of the vehicles and all. Obviously wealthy guys who like to drive their cars. This included a 1925 Bentley and a 1910 Italia, worth a lot of money. Had a chat with one of the guys who was driving an Austin Healey 3000, same as the one I had back in 1972

So tomorrow is our last day as we travel back to Chiang Mai. 400kms and 8am start.
