And finally back to Chiang Mai, 2500kms since we started

Wed 21st Feb 18

After a good breakfast and more chat with the car rally guys, Riz jumped up in the driving seat of the Italia, we had our last group pic with the bikes and then set off. Some more good roads and also a spot of rain, it was HOT. A last noodle soup for lunch and then into the heat and traffic of Chiang Mai and finally back to the TBB shop.

I had checked in for one night at the Sabuy guesthouse near the shop, my 4th time there. A quaint little place and cheap; I was greeted as a long lost friend by the landlady, who surprisingly was still sober, but it was only 5pm!

After a shower, enjoyed a beer with her brother a crazy Liverpool supporter. I joined the others and off we went to a Burmese restaurant for our last supper as a group. Loads of food and Singha beer then off to the amazing night Bazaar to have a look round and a couple more beers at a bar which had a really good rock band, the Black Hawks playing. The singer likes to take his shirt off and pour water over his head and play to the ladies..all good stuff. Some then went on to the Hard Rock Cafe, I called it a day and headed for bed, it’s been a long day 😊

This has been a great trip, definitely made better by a great group of guys from different countries; 3 Americans Kevin, Mark & Fred 🇺🇸  3 Brits Pete, Jon and me 🇬🇧 and an Indian, Mohamed, or Riz his nickname 🇮🇳 all from totally different walks of life; but we’re all bikers and we bonded easily. Great to meet Riz an experienced biker who rides the Himalayas, he’s a Muslim  doesn’t drink and had put up with the rest of us when we enjoyed a beer or two 😁. Could be the start of a whole new customer base for Duncan 👍

The last supper for the band of amigos

Looking forward to a lay in tomorrow when I’ll move on to a swish hotel, the Duangtawan and spend a couple of days chilling and enjoying the heat before flying home at the weekend.
